Encuentra Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Encuentra is a Spanish-learning app. We process the minimum information needed to provide sign-in, vocabulary and role learning, the Translation extension, search, and support.
Information we process
Account information. If you use Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, the provider supplies an account identifier and may provide your name and email address. Apple normally provides name and email only on the first authorization, and may provide a private relay address. The app exchanges the provider identity token for an opaque backend session credential. An anonymous session instead uses a generated app-specific identifier and an opaque session credential.
Learning progress. Vocabulary words, their learning status, and timestamps are stored locally. For an authenticated session, vocabulary progress is also stored on our backend so it can be restored. Offline role-learning progress remains on your device.
Text you choose to submit. Vocabulary search queries, Translation extension text, and optional free-text role-learning responses are sent to our backend only to provide the requested feature. Do not submit sensitive personal information in these fields. The Release build does not include the main-app translator, reading, or reading annotation flows.
Operational information. Our services may process standard request and security information, such as IP address and request metadata, to operate and protect the service.
Main-app analytics and diagnostics. The Encuentra main app uses Firebase Analytics for only fixed feature eligibility, screen exposure, action, and outcome labels, and Firebase Crashlytics for crash diagnostics. Firebase receives its app-instance/install identifier plus app bundle/version, device model, OS version, language, time zone, and standard diagnostic context. These services are used only in the main app, not in the Translation extension. The Release app does not link AdSupport and explicitly disables Firebase IDFV collection; it does not set Firebase user IDs or send account IDs, IDFA, IDFV, search terms, learner text, raw errors, or other free-form values in telemetry.
How information is used and shared
We use this information only for app functionality, account/session management, learning progress, support, security, service reliability, and to understand how the main app is used. Encuentra does not sell personal data, use advertising identifiers, or track you across apps or websites.
To fulfill requested AI features, our backend sends the necessary submitted text to OpenAI for Translation extension requests, selected vocabulary explanations, and free-text role-learning responses; and Voyage AI for search-query embeddings. Google processes information for optional Google Sign-In. Apple processes information for optional Sign in with Apple and account-status notifications. Firebase processes the main-app analytics and crash diagnostics described above. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not send IDFA or IDFV to them.
Storage and retention
Anonymous session credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain. App preferences, offline role progress, and the offline vocabulary cache are stored in the app sandbox or App Group container. Server-stored vocabulary progress is retained while the related account/session is active, unless deletion is requested or retention is required for security or legal obligations. We retain only the limited operational logs needed for security and reliability.
Your choices and requests
You can sign out in My Account; this removes the session credential from that device but does not delete server data. You can permanently delete the current account and its server-stored vocabulary data in My Account after confirmation. To request access to data or ask a question, email jwitapps@gmail.com with the subject Encuentra data request. We may need to verify that you control the relevant account before acting on a request.
Children’s privacy
Encuentra is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes and contact
We will post policy changes at the public policy URL and update the date above. For privacy questions, support, or data requests, contact jwitapps@gmail.com. You can also open the Encuentra support page.
